Pedro Neves Mota, known as Atom Seven, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, Germany. He was born on July 31st, 1966 in Lisbon, Portugal and holds Portuguese and Cape Verdean citizenship.
Atom Seven received a degree in Photography at the Instituto Português de Fotografia, and a degree in Architecture at the Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, trained as an architect at F.A.U.P in Oporto and F.A.U.T.L in Lisbon.
He studied sound architecture with Bernhard Leitener at the Universität der Künste Berlin, 2011.
As an artist, Atom Seven has held his first individual exhibition at Graça Fonseca Gallery in Lisbon in 1997 , Dream Land is Tax Free was a huge nationwide success that was documented in Expresso newspaper and in the public Portuguese television RTP that recorded the first time a green living grass as the floor of an art gallery.
Atom has a passion for creating art that has a deeper purpose and meaning, and he believes in the power of art to inspire and bring positive change to the world. His background in architecture has also influenced his artistic work, as he is interested in exploring the relationship between humans and spaces defined by sounds and art.
It’s clear in his work of his a strong connection to nature and the universe, and that he strive to incorporate these elements into his art installations of his. Atom is on a journey to find and connect with the great spirit, using his art as a means to reach and inspire others in his path of apprentice.
In addition to using his art to convey meaningful messages and inspire others, he also incorporates a sustainable element into his work by using recycled materials.
This adds another layer of purpose and significance to his art, as he is not only creating beautiful installations or pieces, but also taking care of the environment and promoting the use of recycled materials.
Atom art serves as a way for him to connect with the Great Spirit, the invisible, the soundless movement of change and, last but not least, to make a positive impact on the world by inspiring with love and gratitude his fellow beings.
His work includes art installations, paintings, drawings, collages, photography, video, and sound architecture linked to a philosophy of life based on love, gratitude and the 4 noble truths.
Art became my anchor in surviving the tragedy we are co-creating consciously or unconsciously on the planet, in disregard for everything and everyone.
How we treat nature, water, the forests, the animals tell us a lot about our background, our roots, our values.
In 2021/22 Atom had a residency and an art studio at Monopol in Berlin.
